DIY Venturi for Aeration in Fish Tank malayalam

DIY Venturi for Aeration in Fish Tank

In addition to a Hailea Hap 120 air pump, the 40-square-meter fish tank is fitted with two air DIY Venturis. This unit does not require additional electricity to operate these two air Venturies. That’s why I decided to use two air Venturies in this one fish pond instead of using another aerator. The amount of dissolved oxygen in the water is a very important factor in the growth of fish in the fish pond. Different types of air systems are prepared for this purpose. Many people are aware of what an air Venturi is and how it works. For us, the air Venturi is working very well in this Fish pond. That’s why I thought of making this video. The video will definitely benefit you too. Try to watch the video completely.

How to make venturi Aerator for fish pond

First, let’s look at what an air Venturi is. The purpose of any air system is to increase the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water by allowing adequate air to enter the pond. This is exactly what an air DIY venturi does. The water is pumped using a motor pump into an air Venturi. At the same time, the air is drawn from the surface of the water through a pipe and dissolved in water. In this way, the water coming through the Venturi can have a good amount of oxygen mixed in it. This helps to increase the amount of dissolved oxygen in the pond water. At the same time, due to the pressure of this water, it is possible to create good waves in the fish tank.

Both the air venturies working in this fish pond are readymade products purchased from the market. It is made entirely of stainless steel. Therefore, no matter how long it stays in the water, it is unlikely to rust. When I bought it a year ago, the price was around Rs 5,000 for one. Also Available in Plastic material in the market.

How to Fix Venturi in Fish Pond

Now let’s see how this one air Ventury is fixed in this pond. As I said at the beginning of this video that these two air venturies do not need much electricity to work. This is because this unit is an Aquaponics unit consisting of a cent pond and a 3-cent grow bed. A motor of half HP is working to deliver the water from this pond to the filter unit as well as to the grow bed.

The water is delivered to both venturies using a one-inch pipe from the same motor. In an Aquaponics unit, a pump is needed to deliver water to the grow bed. But we can save electricity by using the same motor pumps to operate the air venturies also. If a motor pump can be used exclusively for venturi, it can work at an even better pressure. The required air is drawn in through the PVC pipe provided on top.

Closing the top of this air intake pipe will show how well it works. At present only water passes through this one Venturi. But if we open this PVC, we can see the air bubbles dissolved in the water and its flow.

This air Ventury is a bit expensive. But we can do this on our own at a very low cost. All it takes is a submersible pump and a few PVC fittings.  We will show you how to make your own air venturi system through our next video.

People who watch this video may think that only yam is grown in these grow beds. Along with this, there were other vegetables like spinach, green chilies, ladies’ fingers, etc. All of those were harvested. There is no time to plant fresh saplings again as the fish harvest has already started. There are two benefits to planting yam in a grow bed. One is it grows pretty well in the grow bed. Anyone who has seen the leaves of this plant will understand how well the yam plant grows in the grow bed. Secondly, yam leaves are a good source of protein for giant gourami and Tilapia fish.

Apart from the quality of the water in which the fish are reared, the protein content of the food, and the good aeration required for the pond, if we deposit good quality juvenile fishes, definitely a good yield can be reaped.
