Crucial Safety & Usage Guidelines
It is a common misconception that UV lamps can simply be dropped into the main aquarium. UV-C light is harmful to all living tissue. Please follow these manufacturer guidelines strictly to protect your fish and yourself:
-
Proper Placement: The lamp cannot be used directly exposed to fish, aquatic plants, or other living creatures. It must be placed in a separate filter tank (sump) or at the outfall of your filtration system. If you must use it in the main tank, it requires a dedicated glare shield.
-
Optimal Usage Time: You do not need to run this 24/7. Turn the light on for just 3 to 6 hours a day to effectively kill bacteria as water flows past it.
-
Human Safety: Never look directly at the illuminated lamp or let the light shine on your skin, as it can cause stinging eyes, decreased vision, and skin damage. Always turn off the power before cleaning the tank or doing water changes to avoid electric shock.
