The XF-250 is air-driven (requires an air pump) and features two high-quality ribbed sponges. This design maximizes the surface area for beneficial nitrifying bacteria to colonize, effectively breaking down harmful waste like ammonia and nitrite without creating strong currents that could stress small fish.

Setup & Maintenance Tips

1. Preparation: Before placing it in your tank, soak the sponges in aquarium water for 5 minutes. This helps squeeze out trapped air and primes the sponge for bacterial colonization.

2. Connection: Attach a standard airline tube from your air pump to the small air inlet nozzle on the filter.

3. Placement: Use the suction cups to stick the filter to the inside wall of your aquarium.

4. Cleaning: When the sponges get dirty, remove them and rinse gently in old aquarium water during a water change. Never use hot water or tap water, as this will kill the beneficial bacteria essential for filtration.
