Preparation: Before use, soak the Bio-Foam in aquarium water for 5 minutes to prime it.

Cleaning: During maintenance, always rinse the Bio-Foam with drained out aquarium water only. No tap water or hot water should be used at all, as the chlorine and heat will destroy the beneficial bacteria colonies.

Submersion: When re-using the Bio-Foam, firmly squeeze the foam while it is submerged in the water to remove all trapped air bubbles. This simple step will ensure the filter stays properly submerged.

Replacement Schedule: It is suggested to replace the Bio-Foam every 6 months to ensure the maximum filtering effect as well as the continued healthy growth of nitrifying bacteria.
