Planting Guide: The Dry Start Method
To ensure the best germination rates and prevent the lightweight seeds from floating away, the "Dry Start Method" is highly recommended for planting:
-
Spread a layer of nutrient-rich aquarium soil (active substrate) in an empty, unflooded aquarium.
-
Thoroughly moisten the substrate with a spray bottle, ensuring it is heavily damp but not pooling with water.
-
Evenly scatter the seeds across the desired foreground areas where you want the carpet to grow.
-
Cover the top of the aquarium with plastic cling wrap to create a humid, greenhouse-like environment, leaving a very small gap for air circulation.
-
Provide plenty of aquarium light (8 to 10 hours a day) and mist the seeds daily to maintain high humidity.
-
Once the seeds have fully sprouted and their roots have established a strong grip in the soil (usually within 7 to 14 days), you can gently and slowly flood the tank with water.
