Installation & Safety Guidelines
To maximize the lifespan of your SOBO air pump and ensure the safety of your home, please follow these critical installation steps:
Crucial Setup Advice:
Use a Check Valve: If you are placing the air pump below the water level of your aquarium (such as inside a cabinet), you must install a non-return check valve on the airline tubing. This prevents water from siphoning backward into the pump during a power outage, which can cause severe water damage and ruin the motor.
Above-Tank Placement: Alternatively, place the air pump on a shelf or surface that is higher than the highest water level of your aquarium to naturally prevent back-siphoning.
Vibration Reduction: Ensure the pump is resting flat on its rubber feet on a solid surface to minimize any humming or vibration noises. Do not submerge this pump in water.
